    • PURPOSE:To alleviate the force of tidal wave acting on a marine structure by a method in which a contracted portion is provided at the center of the column for the diving section of a semi-diving type marine structure and a large-diameter footing is provided at the lower end of the column. CONSTITUTION:In a semi-diving type marine structure to be used in the drilling of seabed oil or gas deposits, a platform 1 is supported by plural columns 2 having a contracted portion 5 on its water-submerged portion and also a footing with a larger radius than the upper diameter of the column 2 on its lower end. By this, the vertical rocking movement of the marine structure by tidal waves when the columns are submerged in water can be largely alleviated.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively reduce pitching of a hull by providing a horizontal plate extending in the longitudinal direction of the hull near and below the water line on both side portions of the hull, and erecting a vertical plate on the horizontal plate to form water storage space. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal plate 4 extending in the longitudinal direction 3 of a hull 1 is provided near and below the water line 2 on both side portions of the hull 1 and a vertical plate 5 is erected at that end portion of the horizontal plate 4 which is opposite to the hull 1. Water storage space 6 open at its upper side and at both its front and rear end portions is formed by the horizontal plate 4, the vertical plate 5 and the side of the hull. A slit-shaped water inlet 7 extending in the longitudinal direction 3 of the hull is formed between the end portion of the horizontal plate 4 opposite to the hull 1 and the lower end of the vertical plate 5. Pitching of the hull is reduced by a damping effect due to an increase in weight by water flowing into the water storage space 6, a damping effect due to the flowing in and out of water through the water inlet 7, and a damping effect due to a time lag between the flowing in and out of water and the pitching of the hull.
