    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active oxygen water generating device which generates active oxygen water having strong sterilizing power, insect killing power, and organic matter decomposing capacity, and can control expression of water containing active oxygen species having the function of maintaining effects for a long time.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing functional water in which the expression of the active oxygen radical and ions to be caused is controlled by changing a photocatalytic body or adjusting an ultraviolet dose, the frequency and output of ultrasonic waves and the kind and amount of the gas to be mixed and which is safe and does not exert an adverse influence on the human body or the environment. SOLUTION: The functional water is produced by reacting the active oxygen radical which is caused by the photocatalytic body irradiated with ultraviolet rays, with the ions contained in an aqueous solution. Gasses such as oxygen, chlorine and ammonia and/or at least one of sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, calcium sulfate, potassium sulfate, potassium chloride, calcium carbonate and magnesium bromide are incorporated in the aqueous solution.
