    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint structure of a steel pipe with excellent transportability and construction efficiency by eliminating a split cylindrical joint formed separately from a steel pipe pile which is required in conventional joint structures.
      SOLUTION: In this joint structure of the steel pipe, an outer joint pipe 3 and an inner joint pipe 33 are fitted to the joint ends of the steel pipes 1, 31 to be joined, and the outer joint pipe 3 is inserted onto the inner joint pipe 33 in the pipe axial direction to join these steel pipes to each other. The joint structure comprises slits formed at one side of the inner joint pipe 33 and dividing it into multiple parts in the circumferential direction, projecting parts 35 formed on the outer peripheral surface of the inner joint pipe 33, a side wall 7a at a recessed part 7 formed in the inner peripheral surface of the outer joint pipe 3 and resisting a tensile load together with projecting parts 35 by engaging with the projecting parts 35 while the inner joint pipe 33 is inserted into the outer joint pipe 3, and a contact part resisting a compression load while the inner joint pipe 33 is inserted into the outer joint pipe 3.

      SOLUTION: A lower steel pipe 1 having a first mechanical joint 2 at the upper end and an upper steel pipe 3 having a second mechanical joint 4 fitted to the first mechanical joint 2 by rotation at the lower end are vertically joined to each other. One end of a towing line 7 is wound round the upper steel pipe 3, and the other end of the towing line is pulled by a towing tool 5 to apply a turning force to the upper steel pipe 3, thereby fitting the second mechanical joint 4 to the first mechanical joint 2.

      SOLUTION: The joining structure has outer joint pipes 10a, 10b having outer diameters almost equal to the outer diameters of the steel pipes 1, 2, provided at their inner peripheral surfaces stepwise with annular rugged parts 11a, 11b reduced in inner diameter toward the tip parts, and joined to the end parts of the steel pipes 1, 2 respectively; and a plurality of circular arc members 20 disposed over the inner peripheral surfaces of the outer joint pipes 10a, 10b when the tip parts of both outer joint pipes abut each other, and provided at their outer peripheral surfaces with rugged parts 21 having large diameters at the axial center parts corresponding to the rugged parts 11a, 11b of the outer joint pipes 10a, 10b and reduced in diameter toward both end parts. The circular arc members 20 are disposed at the inner peripheral parts of the outer joint pipes 10a, 10b so that the rugged parts 11a, 11b, 21 are fitted to each other to connect both, thus joining two steel pipes 1, 2.
