    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seamless tube manufacturing method which can advantageously suppress the occurrence of internal flaw in a piercing-rolling process.SOLUTION: A plug before use is heated or cooled so that the temperature of the plug just before piercing (plug initial temperature Tp0) is in the range of 300 to 600°C (exclusive). More specifically, a plug for use in piercing only one material or a first material in a plurality of materials that successively undergo piercing-rolling is heated from approximately room temperature and to an initial plug temperature in the range of 300 to 600°C (exclusive). The heating may be conducted by any heating means such as furnace heating or burner heating. For the plug for use in piercing a second material or later material after use in the first material in the plurality of materials that successively undergo piercing-rolling, the plug raised to an elevated temperature due to the piercing of the first or later material is heated to the initial plug temperature of 300 to 600°C (exclusive) before used in piercing each of the second or later materials.
