    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chromium-free surface-treated, hot-dip Zn-Al-based alloy plated steel sheet which has excellent corrosion resistance, blackening resistance and adhesiveness to paint, and is also excellent in the external appearance of the plated surface. SOLUTION: The hot-dip Zn-Al-based alloy plated steel sheet has a hot-dip Zn-Al-based alloy plated layer which contains 1.0 to 10% Al, 0.2 to 1.0% Mg and 0.005 to 0.1% Ni. The surface-treated steel sheet is produced by forming a film on the surface of the plated steel sheet with the use of a treatment composition which contains a particular aqueous solution containing titanium, a nickel compound and/or a cobalt compound, a fluorine-containing compound and a water-soluble organic resin, at a predetermined ratio. The steel sheet can acquire excellent blackening resistance due to the Ni and/or Co component contained in the film and the optimized composition of the plated layer; further acquire excellent corrosion resistance because the fluorine-containing compound in the treatment composition enhances its reactivity to form a dense reaction layer on the surface of the plated layer, and because the film itself imparts higher barrier properties to the steel sheet; and moreover acquire excellent adhesiveness to paint due to the water-soluble organic resin in the treatment composition.       SOLUTION: A plating bath has a composition adjusted so as to give the plated layer a composition, by average mass%, 25 to 70% Al, 0.5 to 5% Mg, 0.1 to 5% Si, 0.005×(Si%) to 0.05×(Si%)% Sr, or further 0.02 to 2% Cr, 0.02 to 2% Ni, and the balance Zn with unavoidable impurities.
