摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbine expander provided with a variable nozzle mechanism in which an actuator and most parts of a nozzle drive mechanism can be installed in a room temperature range at an atmospheric pressure, and in which input heat can be restricted to the minimum in driving a variable nozzle of an expansion turbine, to lead very low temperature gaseous helium to adiabatic expansion. SOLUTION: This expander is provided with an adiabatic expansion device 22 incorporatol with a turbine impeller 12 to lead very low temperature gas, to adiabatic expansion by its rotation, a brake device 24 coaxially connected to the turbine impeller 12 for braking this; and a variable nozzle mechanism 30 for changing a throat area of the very low temperature gas introduced to the turbne impeller 12. The adiabatic expansion device 22 is installed in a vacuum vessel 14, and the brake device 24 is installed outside the vacuum vessel 14. The variable nozzle mechanism 30 comprises a nozzle member 32 built in the adiabatic expansion device 22, and a drive member 34 installed outside the vacuum vessel 14. The nozzle member 32 and the drive member 34 are connected to each other by a thin cylindrical member 36 which is coaxial with the turbine impeller 12, and the nozzle member 32 is driven by oscillation of the cylindrical member 36 around an axial center Z of the turbine impeller 12.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adiabatic casing structure of a low temperature rotary machine capable of suppressing increase of quantity of heat transferred into low temperature from normal temperature through a compartment wall and increasing withstand pressure. SOLUTION: The adiabatic casing 40 is composed of the first casing 41 which end is fixed to an adiabatic chamber wall 1, the second casing 42 which end is fixed to an operating device 3 and an intermediate cooling ring 43 located between the first casing 41 and the second casing 42 and connecting them. The first casing 41 and the second casing 42 are composed by cylindrical members with thin wall respectively and the intermediate cooling ring 43 is of ring-shaped member containing a passage passing liquid nitrogen or helium gas. At least one of the first casing 42 and the second casing 43 are composed of thin wall parts 41a and 42b reducing a heat transfer and tapered parts 41b and 42b gradually increasing from them.

A variable nozzle mechanism 30 has a plurality of support pins 37, whose one end is fixed to the sliding surface 22a, a plurality of movable nozzle boards 38 which are disposed enclosing the turbine impeller and which is slid around each supporting pin, a nozzle sliding oscillating member 40 for oscillating the movable nozzle boards, by rotatingly driving about a central axis Z of the turbine impeller, while holding the movable nozzle board between the sliding surface 22a and the nozzle oscillation member 40, and an energizing member 32 which is held between the nozzle oscillation member and the opposing part, and for energizing the nozzle oscillation member toward the movable nozzle board.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed motor driven compression/expansion device capable of keeping a gap between an impeller and a casing to the minimum limit even if a rotor shaft and a casing are thermally expanded due to heat generation of a motor, whereby leakage loss of the compressor (or expansion machine) can be reduced and a high compression ratio (or expansion ratio) can be efficiently obtained by using a relatively low speed motor. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a high speed motor 12, a one- stage impeller 13, a two-stage impeller 14 and a casing 16. The one-stage impeller 13 is an abradable impeller, and an abradable seal 17 is provided on the inner surface of the casing. The two-stage impeller 14 has a shroud 15 surrounding the tip of the blade, the axial outer end 15a of the shroud is formed into a cylindrical shape, and a cylindrical inner surface 16a surrounding the outer end part with a gap is provided on the casing. Thus, with a gap between the outer end part 15a and the cylindrical inner surface 16a kept, the two-stage impeller can be moved in the axial direction.
