    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing an internal olefin with a high isomeric conversion ratio, by selectively conducting internal isomerization of an α-olefin by the use of catalysts given at a low cost, while preventing side reactions, such as skeletal isomerization, oligomerization, and cracking.
      SOLUTION: This method for producing the internal olefin comprises bringing the α-olefin into contact with a zeolite catalyst and/or a montmorillonite-based catalyst, so as to isomerize the olefin, wherein the α-olefin comprises a 12-20C olefin which has a concentration of oxygen derived from an oxo compound of ≤20 mass ppm.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially feasible highly productive simple process for completing reaction in a short period of time for production of 2-adamantanone.SOLUTION: The process for production of 2-adamantanone is the oxidation of adamantane at 70-90°C using 90-95 wt.% of sulfuric acid in the presence of a 2-5C halogenated alkane bound with at least one halogen atom to each of two primary carbons, with consecutive addition of sulfur trioxide gas and/or fuming sulfuric acid during oxidation, while maintaining the weight ratio (sulfuric acid/adamantane) of the total amount of sulfuric acid (total use weight of sulfuric acid, sulfur trioxide and fuming sulfuric acid, each based on 100% sulfuric acid) to the weight of the adamantane at 6 to 12 and maintaining the concentration of the sulfuric acid at 90-95 wt.% in the reaction system.
