SOLUTION: The method comprises (1) a step for melting and crystallizing in which 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene is formed by using a column melting and crystallizing method for cooling a melting liquid of a mixture of dimethylnaphthalene (DMN) isomers, (2) a step for separating crystal and mother liquor formed in the above step (1) by vacuum filtration, (3) a perspiration step for vacuum filtrating while partly melting impurities contained between the surface and the crystal layer of the crystal formed in the above step (2), and (4) a step for separating and recovering 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene by melting it after the perspiration step.
