    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm control apparatus of an interchangeable lens camera which performs accurate stepping-drive control, even if a stepping motor is used. SOLUTION: The diaphragm control apparatus of the interchangeable lens camera detects the origin position of the stepping motor to move a slider member performing drive control of a diaphragm device of a mounted photographic lens at the origin position by reciprocating motion of the slider member from the origin position. When the slider member returns to a position corresponding to a moving distance which is less than a moving distance corresponding to one step from the origin position during a backward-stroke process, the position of the slider member is detected, after holding the stepping motor for a first waiting time; the stepping motor is made to enter a free state, after a lapse of the first waiting time, and further the position of the slider member is detected after a lapse of a second waiting time; and an initial excitation pattern of the stepping motor at the origin position is set from a difference between a position detected in the hold state and a position detected in the free state and from the moving distance per one step.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate an exposure for a desired subject, with high accuracy.SOLUTION: An exposure calculator 30 includes a first calculator circuit 31, an SDRAM 32, a zone selector 50, an exposure determiner 60 and a second calculator circuit 33. Photometric data is generated from each of a plurality of photometric zones in a photometric sensor. The first calculator circuit 31 generates partial exposure data based on the received photometric data. The partial exposure data is stored in the SDRAM 32. The zone selector 50 selects the photometric zone which receives light only from subjects having high brightness or subjects having low brightness based on the partial exposure data. The exposure determiner 60 discriminates whether a subject is under front or rear lighting conditions, or other conditions based on the selected photometric zone. The exposure determiner 60 determines the exposure based on the discriminated result.
