    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform non-line stitch bookbinding process using an EVA-based hot melt sizing and a PUR-based hot melt sizing without increasing an occupancy space by a milling machine of a non-line stitch bookbinding device. SOLUTION: A cutter, which is fixed to the apex of a rotary spindle of the milling machine and fabricates the lower surface (back of a booklet) of a passing bundle of sheets, is combined with an annular milling cutter 20 with many cutting edges projecting upward from the plane, formed on the outer periphery, and a channeling gully cutter 21, in the case of the EVA-based hot melt sizing. The above cutter is combined with the milling cutter 20 and an annular grinding gully cutter 22 with many grinding edges 22b projecting upward from the plane, formed on the outer periphery, in the case of the PUR-based hot melt sizing. In the case of the former sizing, a roughly pitched slashed groove, cut more or less way deep from the lower surface of the bundle of sheets, is formed.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding method wherein paper board positioning work in gluing work and pasting work in the process of pasting a front cover piece on a paper board and pasting an end paper is reduced.
      SOLUTION: The front cover piece 4 is pasted to the paper boards 1 to 3 having both surfaces coated with a hot-melt adhesive by heating/melting the adhesive to make a front cover. The end paper which is folded double, one face of one side of which is coated with the adhesive and which is stuck on a release sheet 10 is superposed, and a signature 5 bound by pasting a backing paper 8 on the rear face is enclosed with the front cover, and a groove 14 is formed with a cutting nipper. Then, the release sheet 10 stuck on the end paper 7 is released, one face of the end paper 7 with the adhesive is temporarily bonded on the paper board 1 of the front surface and the paper board 3 of the rear surface, and the front cover is closed.
