    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfect binding bookbinding device which can reduce a burden to be brought to bear on an operator when the bookbinding of text pages differing in thickness is frequently performed, and thus, can be operated at a high time efficiency. SOLUTION: This bookbinding device is operated in the following way: first, the text pages to be bookbound, are inserted into a clamper 1 located at a text page insertion part A, then transferred to a milling part B, a pasting part C and a cover attaching part D successively, and a cover is attached to the spine of the text pages to complete a bookbinding process. In addition, a thickness measuring instrument 6 is disposed at the side part of an arrangement table 1c of the text page insertion part A. After that, the text pages arranged by the table 1c are transferred sliding on the table 1c surface to a thickness meter 6, and the thickness of the text pages is measured.       SOLUTION: When a cover pressurizing conveying belt 21 is driven, the cover 17 is sent to a nipping unit 5. When a cover rear end detecting sensor 29 detects a rear end of the cover 17, the belt 21 is stopped. Then, after a back header direction of the cover 17 is positioned by closing a cover back header direction guide 30 at a set quantity, a cover top and bottom direction reference stopper 25 is raised, and the belt 21 is driven in a reverse direction. Then, the cover 17 is sent in the reverse direction, and the rear end of the cover 17 is bumped against the stopper 25. Thereafter, when the belt 21 is driven by a numeric value amount input from an input means of a control circuit in a forward direction, the rear end of the cover 17 is moved to a position separate at a distance to be input by the numeric value from the position of the stopper 25, and hence the cover can be positioned.

An arm 23 is fixed on one end of the turning shaft 9, and a position-changeable stopper 25 is provided which contacts the arm 23 to stop the turning of the turning shaft 9.
