    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse inhibitor mechanism for a transmission, having improved assembling workability while reducing the size of a shift drum. SOLUTION: The reverse inhibitor mechanism 230 for the transmission comprises the shift drum 210 journaled to the opposed side walls of a transmission case 31 and turnably supported thereon, and a reverse inhibitor arm 231 disengageably engaging with a reverse inhibitor groove 210r formed in the outer peripheral face of the shift drum for restricting the setting of a reverse. Herein, a reverse inhibitor shaft 232 integrally supporting the reverse inhibitor arm 231 is turnably journaled into one side wall of the opposed side walls of the transmission case 31 through the inside of the transmission case 31 in the state of locating the reverse inhibitor arm 231 in the transmission case 31, while the front end of the reverse inhibitor arm 231 which rocks with the turn of the reverse inhibitor shaft 232 engages with the reverse inhibitor groove 210r.
