    • PURPOSE: To reduce the temperature rise on the surface of liquid and the increase in the peressure of gas in a tank, by providing a baffle plate to diffuse a natural convection boundary layer produced on the inside of the wall of the tank of a presure-accumulation-type low-temperature liquefied gas tanker.
      CONSTITUTION: A baffle plate 1, whose width (d) is larger than the thickness of a natural convection boundary layer (a) which is produced on the inside of the wall 2 of a tank, is provided in a prescribed position on the upper inside part of the wall 2 of the tank so that the baffle plate 1 extends almonst horizontally along the total circumference of the wall 2 at a prescribed distance down from the surface of liquefied gas fully fulled in the tank. As a result, the flow of the boundary layer (a) produced because of heat entering through the wall 2 is changed as shown by arrows A so that the layer (a) is mixed with the other portion of the liquid. The temperature of the boundary layer (a) reaching the surface of the liqid is much reduced due to the baffle plate 1. Since the temperature of the relatively warm layer staying on the surface of the liquid is thus reduced, the rise in the pressure of gas in the tank is diminished.
