    • PURPOSE:To prolong the life of bearings used in a movable vane operating mechanism by allowing a thrust bearing to rotate only during operation for vane angle, and also to provide possibility if use of bearings with low load capacity. CONSTITUTION:If the vane angle shall be kept constant, a worm 12 is fixed in a position shown by the solid line while a set screw 14 is inserted in a longitudinal groove 9a so as not to allow relative rotation of bearing housings 9, 7, and a brake drum 15 is pressed to a disc 20 on the spindle 1 to allow the housing 9, 7 to rotate together with the spindle 1. Thus the upper and lower bearings 4, 5 receive the vane operating force statically. In order to change the vane angle, the drum 15 is released from the disc 20, and the housings 9, 7 are bracked by a pin stop screw 14 and stop. Then the worm is put in meshing with the wheel 11, the screw 14 drawn off, and the wheel turned, and now the outer bearing housing 7 is rotated to make upward or downward movement. Thus the operational rod 2 is moved up or down to change the vane angle.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify the load transmitting route of the blade operation force by connecting an external bearing box with an internal bearing provided independently of the external bearing so that the blade operation force acts directly upon a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:With axial movement of an external bearing box 20, an operation rod 5 moves up and down via thrust bearings 10a, 10b, an internal bearing box 8, and a cotter 7. Since the blade operation force due to this vertical movement of the rod 5 acts upon a rotary shaft 6 only, it is sufficient for a bearing box 19 only to restrict the rotary force due to the friction force from both upper and lower bearings 10a, 10b and 18a, 18b. With this contrivance, the load transmitting route of the blade operation force can be simplified.

      CONSTITUTION: In a pump 5 installed in a water pumping up tank 2, the discharge valve 1 is perfectly closed when the pump stops operation, and air is supplied into the pump through an air pipe 6 from an air tank 13 by opening a valve 10, and the liquid in the pump is removed, and air is supplied into the airtight outer cylinder 4 installed in the outer periphery of the pump from the air tank 13 through an air pipe 7 by opening a valve 9, and thus the liquid on the outer peripheral surface of the pump is removed. Therefore, deterioration of the inner and outer surfaces of the pump can be prevented by covering the outer and inner peripheral parts of the pump by an air layer.

    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize a suction water tank and moreover to suppress deterioration in efficiency at starting up and shutting down a pump and occurrence of oscillations and noises by controlling a discharge valve so as to keep a fluctuation of the water level coming in a constant width in accordance with a detection signal for the water level fluctuation. CONSTITUTION:A fluctuation of the water level in a suction water tank 1 is outputted as a detected water level width signal by a water level signal generator 8 and is inputted in an arithmetic unit 9 to decide, as illustrated, whether or not the detection signal (in full line) comes in the water level width (in broken line) preset for steady operation of a pump. If it comes outside the preset level, a difference between the preset water level width and the detected water level width is calculated, and the result is sent to a function generator 10. A valve controlling device 12 therefore turns to control a discharge valve 6 so as to equalize an output from the function generator 10 and an output from a valve opening meter 11, thereby suppressing the water level fluctuation in the suction water tank 1 within a constant width.

CONSTITUTION:A substance made of Al, Mg, Zn or an alloy thereof is stuck to the surface or crevice of each of the constituent parts of an apparatus handling seawater, and the parts are immersed in seawater and allowed to stand for a long period before the operation of the apparatus. The stuck substance corrodes in the seawater, making the seawater around the surfaces of the parts alkaline, or the seawater is made alkaline by the cathodic polarization of the surfaces of the parts. Calcite is deposited on the surfaces of the parts, so the corrosion and damage of the apparatus are prevented. It is desirable that a power, a fine wire or a thin plate or an amorphous substance contained such substances or a peelable solid subtance is properly selected as said substance according to the shape of each spot to which the substance is stuck.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a load on a thrust bearing by using a material of small coefficient of friction for each slide surface of a bearing for the support of a movable vane axis and a link mechanism for connection between a vane control rod and the said vane axis, and locating the center of a movable vane stem at a specific position. CONSTITUTION:A material having a small coefficient of friction is used to from the slide surfaces of a bearing 50 to support the axis 6a of a movable vane 6, and a link mechanism 70 connecting a vane control rod 3 to the said axis 6a. Also, the center of a stem is positioned to the trailing side of a movable vane 6, relative to the center of water pressure P, so that the moment of rotation M (P.l) arising from a deviation between the centers of the water pressure and the stem will be made small. Then, the relations of F-X 0 and W1+W2>X+F become thereby available, when W1=water thrust, W2=motor rotor load, X=axial force corresponding to rotary vane force due to water pressure and F=axial force due to friction between the bearing 50 and the link mechanism 70. Consequently, the load of a thrust bearing 22 at the side of a motor 8 can be substantially reduced at the time of control for opening and closing the valve.
