      SOLUTION: At least two relief valves are provided to a pump housing. Thereby, the high-pressure feeding pump that exerts a sufficient relief function is provided without increasing the size of the pump itself so much using a surplus space of the pump housing effectively even when the high-pressure fuel feed pump is increased in capacity for increasing the feed amount of high-pressure fuel.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent variations of valve-closing operation caused by a pressure difference generated between a hermetically closed space defined inside a solenoid valve of a fuel pump and an external space outside thereof. SOLUTION: The plunger type high-pressure fuel pump comprises: a plunger reciprocating in a cylinder of a pump; a pressure chamber of fluid, constituted of the plunger and the cylinder; a solenoid valve disposed between the pressure chamber and a fluid suction passage; and a delivery valve. The solenoid valve includes: a valve element 91 including a suction valve 5; a solenoid coil moving the valve element; an anchor 32 made of a magnetic material provided integrally with the valve element 91; and a core 30 forming a magnetic circuit to attract the anchor 32 by the electromagnetic force and dividing the inside of the solenoid valve into a hermetically closed space 38 and an external space 39 communicating with the fluid suction passage. The anchor 32 or the core 30 is provided with a fluid passage 41 through which fluid can flow between the hermetically closed space 38 and the external space 39 formed by the anchor 32 and the core 30, respectively when the suction valve 5 is in an opened state. Concretely, an orifice or a mechanism is disposed to the relief passage. The orifice damps operation energy acting on the relief valve, which operational energy is on the bases of the pressure increase on a discharge passage side in a short period and is generated during valve opening operation of the high-pressure pump.
