    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive optical network system capable of eliminating wasteful use of power consumption as much as possible by reducing a transmission power at an OLT per ONU.SOLUTION: An OLT 300 calculates a transmission path loss from a difference between a reception level of an ONU 200 and a transmission optical output power of the OLT itself. The ONU 200 lowers the transmission optical output power based on a calculated value to such a level that reception errors do not occur. In case of the occurrence of a period below or equal to the level that no error occurs (PON link interruption) in the ONU 200 side according to the transmission path loss performed in each ONU 200, a PON link establishment is held by determining the PON link establishment and link interruption based on an existence of a grant signal reception sent by the OLT 300 for a PON link judgement.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration in video quality caused by signal width distortion due to nonlinear effects in a video transmission system using an FM batch conversion system.
      SOLUTION: After an FM batch conversion signal received in a V-ONU is subjected to optical/electrical conversions 31, 32, a differential amplifier 33 which has a gain depending upon the amplitude of the input signal is installed, the FM batch conversion signal is input to one terminal of the differential amplifier 33, and a comparison threshold voltage is given to the other input terminal. In accordance with the output of the differential amplifier 33, a threshold voltage is generated through a signal width distortion detecting section 35 and a correction threshold generating section 36 on the basis of an FM batch carrier level output from an FM batch demodulation circuit 34. By increasing/decreasing the threshold voltage in accordance with the signal width distortion, a signal in which the signal width distortion has been decreased is obtained.
