    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a storage control device by switchably connecting casings, and stopping power supply to each individual casing that is not accessed. SOLUTION: A plurality of extension casings 2 are connected to a basic casing 1 via an inter-device switch 4. Any drive 2B that has not been accessed for more than a predetermined period of time is spun down. When all the drives 2B in the casing are spun down, the supply of power to each drive 2B from an internal power supply is stopped. When all the drives 2B in the casing 2 are spun down, the basic casing 1 turns off a switch 3A in a power distribution circuit 3 connected to the casing 2.
