    • PURPOSE:To improve reliability of a solder connection by disposing a platelike spacer between an integrated circuit board and a printed board, obtaining the thickness of the solder by thermal expansion, thermal deformation, and obtaining an air gap between the circuit board and the spacer. CONSTITUTION:A platelike spacer 4 made of metal or synthetic resin is disposed between an integrated circuit board 1 made of ceramics placed with an integrated circuit and a printed board 2 made of glass epoxy resin, etc., and the terminal 1a of the board 1 is connected to the land 2a of the board 2 by solder 3 such as pastelike solder, etc. Thereafter, the board 2 is heated to melt the solder 3, thereby completing solder connection. In this case, the spacer 4 is so set as to obtain a predetermined solder thickness to obtain reliability of the solder connection. When the board 2 is heated to melt the solder 3, the spacer 4 is similarly heated, the board 1 is raised by thermal expansion or thermal expansion, the spacer is largely thermally shrinked by cooling or recovered, and hence an air gap 8 is generated between the board 1 and the spacer 4. As the spacer, a bimetal or a shape memory material may be used.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of optical coupling between an optical fiber and light emitting and receiving elements by coupling the light emitting and receiving elements which are connected to an electric circuit with the optical fiber by a fiber plate and sealing them airtightly in one body.
CONSTITUTION: The electric circuit 1 is coupled electrically with the fiber plate 7 to which the light emitting and receiving elements 5 and 6 are fitted. The optical fiber 8 is coupled having its tip part brought into contact with the fiber plate 7. The electric circuit 1, light emitting and receiving elements 5 and 6, fiber plate 7, and optical fiber 8 are sealed airtightly by a case 10, a rubber cover 11, etc., to form an integrated connector. In this constitution, the distance between the light emitting element 5 and optical fiber 8 is short, so fiber light input increases. Therefore, the light emitting element 5 and optical fiber 8 are coupled together closely through only the fiber plate 7 where light can travels straight, so the efficiency of optical coupling is improved. Further, all the principal parts are sealed airtightly, so field assembly becomes possible.

    • PURPOSE:To decide whether a device side or active connector is defective by charging a light emitting element and a light receiving element, and the core of an optical fiber opposite one another in a main body case covered with a transparent cover and forming a window in the main body case opposite to the light emitting element. CONSTITUTION:A holder 7 which holds the left-end parts 6a of a couple of optical fibers 6 and cores 6b1 and 6b2 is fitted in the right-end part of the main body case 8, and the cores 6b1 and 6b2 are provided opposite the light emitting element 3 and light receiving element 4. The transparent cover 10, holder 7, and optical fiber 6 are covered with a rubber cover 9, and the window 9a is provided opposite the window 8a of the main body case 8a of the rubber cover 9. Thus, the transparent cover 10 is interposed between the main body case 8 and rubber cover 9, so extra light from the light emitting element 3 which is not entered the optical fiber 6a seen through the windows 9a and 8a, and it is easily discriminate which of the device side or active connector side is defective.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the fiber coupling efficiency by optical transmission line insertion by providing plural optical transmission lines whose incidence angle and projection angle are equal to each other, and arranging the optical lines in parallel to an optical axis.
CONSTITUTION: A spot light source 1 having light intensity P is provided and optical lines 3 and 4 incident on an optical path 2 at angles θ
      1 and θ
2 propagate in the optical transmission line 2 in the thickness direction while reflected totally by the internal reflecting plate 9. Projection line from the optical transmission line 2 is split into light beams 5 and 5', and 6 and 6' having projection angles ±θ
      1 and θ
2 , and they have equally divided light intensity. This optical system is equivalent to a system in which two spot light sources 7 and 8 having light intensity P/2 are positioned ±l
1 away from the projection surface of an optical path. Therefore, when outputs of the light sources are coupled with a fiber through the optical transmission line, the distance betwen the light source and the fiber is shortened equivalently and the fiber coupling efficiency is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the molding of the signal terminals of a light-emitting device and a photo-detector, and to decrease man-hours while reducing a mounting area and miniaturize an optical transmission module by cutting the signal terminals in short size and using a flexible printed wiring board for connecting the signal terminals and a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A transmission circuit 7 and a reception circuit 6 are mounted to a substrate 5, and the signal terminals of a light-emitting device and a photo- detector are connected to the substrate 5 by flexible printed wiring boards 1, 2. The flexible printed wiring boards 1, 2 can be prepared in conformity with the shapes of the signal terminals and the pattern of the substrate 5, the signal terminals of the light-emitting device and the photo-detector need not be molded, and the signal terminals can easily be connected. Since an optical transmission module has excellent flexibility, the stress of connecting sections generated by the difference of the thermal expansion coefficients of the light- emitting device and the photo-detector fixed to a case and the substrate 5 can be absorbed, and reliability is also improved. Since curvature can be reduced, a mounting area can also be diminished.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of an optical axis misalignment by soldering a holder, and a ceramic ferrule onto the sleeve end face, and to the holder, respectively by high frequency induction heating in a state that an optical fiber is adjusted to an optical coupling position. CONSTITUTION:In the case of attaching an optical fiber 7 to a sleeve 2, a holder 9 is allowed to slide on the end face of the sleeve 2 in the direction intersecting orthogonally with an optical axis and an optical coupling position is adjusted. Also, a ceramic ferrule 8 is allowed to slide in the holder 2 in the optical axis direction and the optical coupling position is adjusted. Subsequently, in a state that the fiber 7 is adjusted to an optimal coupling position, the sleeve 2 and the holder 9, and the holder 9 and the ferrule 8 are soldered by high frequency induction heating by using eutectic solder 10, 11 of gold and tin. In such a manner, the soldering fixed part is heated and cooled uniformly extending over the whole periphery and the generation of an optical axis misalignment at the time when solder is melted and solidified.
