    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a core shutdown margin and thermal margin and maintain as good economy as a large reactor for a core of a boiling water reactor in a medium size with 600 or small number of loaded fuel assemblies.
      SOLUTION: The core 103 of the boiling water reactor comprises 508 fuel assemblies 1 provided each with a plurality of fuel rods 6 arranged in 10×10 rectangular grid and a channel box 11 with an inner width of 13.4 cm surrounding the rods. The grid pitch of the fuel assembly 1 is L (inch) and superficial power density of the core calculated in the condition of L=6.1 is D (kW/1), then D fulfills 55≤D≤60 and 125L-716.25≤D≤125L-710.0.
