SOLUTION: The pump for washing machines is provided with a pump casing, a rotary runner placed inside the pump casing and rotates freely, and an electric motor which drives and rotates the rotary runner. A center of rotary shaft of the electric motor is water sealed by a sealing member and inserted into the pump casing. The center of the shaft is provided with a cylindrical cap member preventing foreign matters from entering which covers the water sealed parts and forms a labyrinth structure with the water sealed member to prevent foreign substances from entering. The center of the shaft and a center of the rotary runner shaft are fastened with each other through the cap member for preventing entering of foreign substances.
