    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with generation of sparks around through holes of a glass substrate, in an FED (field emission display).
      SOLUTION: The inside of the FED needs to be exhausted in vacuum. Surrounding a venthole 10 formed at a cathode base plate 1, an exhaust room is formed with an exhaust base plate 6 and an exhaust base frame body 71, an exhaust base plate venthole 81 is formed at the exhaust base plate 6 to be connected to an exhaust tube 8, through which, the inside of the FED is exhausted into vacuum. If a sharp edge is formed at an end part of the venthole 10, sparks are generated with the edge as a starting point. As a countermeasure for this, chamfering 101 is formed against the venthole 10. It is more preferable if a chamfering is formed at the exhaust base plate venthole 81 and a high-voltage lead-in button hole 82. With this, sparks based on the end part of the through hole 10 or the like formed at the cathode base plate 1 or the like can be restrained.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain good convergence only with a shield-cup by using a shield-cup of specified shape. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical shield-cup of a cathode-ray tube has a mult-angular bottom plate 7 long in the transversal direction in which three electron beams are arranged and short in the longitudinal direction perpendicular to the transversal direction. And the three electron beams 7a-7c are arranged symmetrically to the plane of arrangement of the three beams 7a-7b including the both outer beams. The shield-cup is constructed so as to be surrounded with two side walls 6a, 6c consisting of plates parallel or slightly tilted to the said plane and long in the transversal direction respectively and two side walls 6c connected to the both ends of which nearly perpendicular to which and facing to each other symmetrically to the tube axis and short in the longitudinal direction. Thereby an eddy current is generated in the wide side walls in the vicinity of the passing through holes of the outer beams, thus the deflections of the both outer beams are delayed to nearly equalize the deflection velocities of the three electron beams 7a-7c. By using this shield-cup with a correction means consisting of a combination of respective two ring-shaped permanent magnetic plates or the like, good convergence can be obtained.
