    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of which generation of rubbing lines is reduced in an alignment layer.
      SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate which sandwiches liquid crystal to be oppositely arranged; pixel electrodes formed on the surface on the liquid crystal side of the first substrate; a first alignment film formed by being brought into contact with the liquid crystal; a counter electrode formed on the surface on the liquid crystal side of the second substrate; and a second alignment film formed by being brought into contact with the liquid crystal. The second alignment film is rubbed at an angle in the range of 45±3° relative to one side of the second substrate, the counter electrode includes a protruding pad portion at least at a part of the side, and the direction in which each of a pair of sides extends along the direction in which the pad portion extends from the counter electrode is set to an angle of 15-35° with the side of the second substrate which crosses by extension.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical leakage in a frame area of a liquid crystal display device with sufficient reliability.
