    • PURPOSE:To prevent the lining from abnormal abrasion by a method wherein a thermocouple is embedded in a brake lining, an output display device of the thermocouple is arranged in an operator cabin, also a fan for cooling of a drum is provided to be controlled according to the output of the thermocouple. CONSTITUTION:An embedding hole 14 is provided through a fixed band 7 and a lining 12, a thermocouple 15 is filled and inserted together with a heat insulating material 16 into said hole. The temperature of the lining 12 is detected by the heat contact point 15 of the thermocouple 15, and displayed on a temperature display device 17. Therefore, an operator can be notified easily the abnormal temperature when the lining temperature exceeds the abnormal abrasion starting temperature caused by the continuous applying of a brake, accordingly, the abnormal abrasion can be prevented by refraining from the brake applying.

As noted above, the central part, which is usually brought in a highest temperature condition, is cooled, and this brings whole temperature distribution into uniformity and prevents the occurrence of deviated wear of a drum and a lining.
