    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum-type washing machine with a simple structure capable of reducing power consumption while improving the cleanness of a drum and an outer tank.SOLUTION: A drum-type washing machine comprises: an outer tank supported in a housing, for storing water inside; a drum encompassed by the outer tank for containing laundry; a driving device for rotationally driving the drum; a control part for controlling the driving device; and water supply means for supplying water to the outer tank, thereby implementing washing and rinsing processes. The rinsing process comprises the step of continuously rotating the drum with water being stored in the outer tank by the water supply means. After discharging a portion of rinsing water used in the rinsing process, the control part implements arc rotation, i.e. rotating the drum less than one rotation with a part of the drum being immersed in the remaining water. The arc rotation is a rapid arc rotation in which the drum is accelerated in an acceleration higher than that at the start of the continuous rotation or the drum is stopped in a brake time shorter than that when the continuous rotation is stopped.

      SOLUTION: In the second half of drying operations, an air intake valve is opened, high-temperature air collected in a housing is sucked by a fan and the water sealing of a drain trap is broken by rotating the fan at a high speed and the air is discharged to a drain outlet for drying by residual heat. Also, after completion of the drying operations, the rotating speed of the fan is reduced and water is supplied to the drain trap for restoring the water sealing. In this way, power consumption of the heater in the second half of the drying operations can be reduced by drying by residual heat consisting of discharging air to the drain outlet by breaking the water sealing of the drain trap without discharging high-humidity air into the room. Also, odor from the drain outlet can be suppressed also after completion of the drying operations by reducing the rotating speed of the fan, supplying water to the drain trap and restoring the water sealing after completion of the drying operations.

The means for blowing air consists of an air blowing means, a means for heating the air which is arranged on the blowing side of the air blowing means, a nozzle which is arranged downstream of the heating means, and an airflow channel which connects them. The nozzle is arranged on the front side of the rotary drum and is placed so that the air emitted from the nozzle may be oriented toward the back side of the rotary drum. The exhaust outlet is arranged in a position which is substantially symmetric to the position of the nozzle with respect to the center of rotation of the rotary drum.
