    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster capable of reducing an amount of oil leaked to outside, and easily controlling a leakage-down time.SOLUTION: In a lash adjuster 10, a peripheral groove 21f is formed on an entire periphery of an outer peripheral wall 28 of a plunger 21 nearer a high pressure chamber 11b than an induction hole 21e, and a return hole 21g communicated with a reservoir chamber 21c is formed. Thereby, pressurized oil flowing in a clearance formed between an outer peripheral wall 28 of the plunger 21 and an inner peripheral wall 13 of a body 11 from the high pressure chamber 11b reaches the peripheral groove 21f before reaching the introduction hole 21e, and flows in the reservoir chamber 21c via the return hole 21g. Therefore, the pressurized oil flowing in a separator chamber 21b via the introduction hole 21e is reduced. Also, length of the clearance through which the pressurized oil passes gets shorter, and the pressurized oil is returned to the reservoir chamber 21c from the high pressure chamber 11b in a short time. Therefore, a leakage-down time can be easily controlled by adjusting a size of the clearance.

Accordingly, noises during starting an internal combustion engine due to air mixture because of oil leakage of a high-pressure chamber 11b can be prevented.
