Each strip shaped joint member 15 is half divided and consists of the upper part strap 15a and the lower part strap 15b, and fixed from the above and the below. The generating unit is located at a first location and the dispensing unit is located at a second location away from the first location. For example, the generating unit may be located outside the building and the dispensing unit may be located inside a garage. Also disclosed is a generating unit having an electrochemical cell, which may be operated as either a fuel cell for supplying electricity to the building or a hydrogen pump for purifying the reformate.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably keep the temp. of the whole catalyst and to stabilize the composition of a generated reformed gas when generating an evaporated gas by evaporating liquid fuel supplied to an evaporator, by jetting reforming air to mix with the evaporated gas and supplying the gaseous mixture to a reformer to uniformly mix the evaporated gas with the reforming air to be brought into contact with the reforming catalyst. SOLUTION: A fuel cell system M has the evaporator 1, to which the liquid fuel F such as water-methanol mixed liquid is supplied. In the evaporator 1, the liquid fuel F supplied from a fuel injector is evaporated to obtain the evaporated gas and the evaporated gas is mixed with the reforming air to generate the gaseous mixture. In the reformer 4, a fuel gas is formed by bringing the gaseous mixture into contact with the reforming catalyst to cause the reforming reaction. The fuel gas is cooled in a heat exchanger 5 and in a CO removing apparatus, carbon monoxide is removed. The fuel gas and an oxygen enriched air from a compressor 8 are supplied to a fuel cell 7.
