    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost of a nonvolatile semiconductor memory and transferring data amount with external devices.SOLUTION: A semiconductor memory device includes a configuration of existing memory devices such as a memory cell array, a sense amplifier, a driver, and an interface logic, and further includes a volatile buffer memory having a capacity equivalent to one page which is a unit for reading/writing data in the memory cell array, and a data selection circuit which selectively input an output of the sense amplifier, an output of the buffer memory, and an exclusive-OR of the output of the sense amplifier and the output of the buffer memory to the buffer memory. The memory device further includes a control circuit which controls so that the output of the buffer memory is input to at least one of the buffer memory and the driver through the data selection circuit or neither of the buffer memory nor the driver through the data selection circuit, in response to the selection of inputting to the buffer memory by the data selection circuit.
