    • PURPOSE:To increase the strength against oscillation of a roll support frame for synchronizing rolls effectively, by extending the parts including the opposited positions of furnace shells for the purpose of supporting and fixing said frame inward with respect to an inside furnace side. CONSTITUTION:Brackets 18, 18 extending mutually inward with respect to an inside furnace 11 side are provided in the opposed parts of furnace shells 13 including the positions for supporting and fixing a roll support frame 15, and receiving seats 16, 16 are provided respectively on the brackets 18, 18. The results are that the supporting and fixing parts of the frame 15 are supported and fixed between the seats 16 and 16 in the upper parts of the refractory layer 12 nearer the inner side than the inside surfaces of the furnace shells 13, 13. Therefore, the distance between the supporting and fixing positions is reduced to a distance L2 as compared to the distance L1 between the dotted line parts in the prior art. While the strength against oscillation of the frame 15 increases, the shape and weight of the frame 15 do not increase, and rather the size and weight are reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To enable rotation of a ribbon coil with a short transfer distance and without damaging the wound-up shape of the coil by providing a mechanism sending laterally the coil loaded on the horizontal arm of an up-ender to a vertical arm. CONSTITUTION:A coil 18 carried from a coiler not shown in the figure to a fixed position E-E by a coil car 17 is transferred from the coil car 17 on to a coil transfer rack 23 on a horizontal arm 22. Next, the transfer rack 23 is sent laterally along the horizontal arm 22 by the operation of a cylinder 24 in accordance with the dimension of the coil 18 in the direction of width up to the point where the end face F of the coil 18 in the direction of the wind thickness comes into touch with the coil-receiving face G of a vertical arm 21. When this transfer is completed, the coil 18 is placed in the condition that the end face thereof in the direction of the wind thickness is received by the vertical arm 21, while the lateral face in the direction of width -- by the horizontal arm 22 and the transfer rack 23, and, being rotated at 90 degrees by the operation of another cylinder 25, is transferred directly on to a conveyor 27. Thus, a ribbon coil can be rotated on to a carrying device in the next step, with a short transfer distance and without damaging the wound-up shape thereof.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a leading time considerably with an expensive device by rotating and leading a coil by means of a freely upward and downward movable snubber roller and guides on a freely travelable carriage above a drum to be mounted with the coil. CONSTITUTION:When a coil 1 is carried by a coil car 2 into a prescribed position, a leading reel drum 34 is inserted into the coil, and the car 2 moves downward. The 1st frame 15 is moved downward, and a snubber roller 13 circumscribes the coil 1. On the other hand, the 2nd frame 21 is moved downward and a leading guide 30 and a delivery guide 32 descend. In succession, a guide 30 turns downward and a touch roller 29 and an opener 35 are pressed onto the outside circumference of the coil 1 in adequate positions. When the coil 1 is rotated counterclockwise, a leading end part 6 is led out by the cooperative operations of the three 13, 29, 35, and is led out by a required length onto the guide 30. Thereafter, a coil retainer 18 descends to hold down the end part 6, and the car 2 ascends. The drum 34 and a carriage 28 are run synchronously to carry the coil 1 into the drum of an uncoiler.
