    • PURPOSE:To prevent an influence of a grounding failure of a coil from extending, by a method wherein a toroidal feild coil which is excited by direct current through devices such as AC circuit breakers, a rectifier transformer and a rectifier is grounded by a resistance whose value is minimum 5 times and maximum 50 times of that of the coil when the maximum current is applied. CONSTITUTION:A toroidal source circuit which is composes a torus type nuclear fusion equipment is composed of an AC source 10, AC circuit breakers 11 and rectifier transformer to which the breakes 11 are connected. A rectifier 13, a source side sound toroidal field coil inductance 15, a source side sound toroidal field coil resistance 16, an earth side sound toroidal field coil inductance 17 and an earth side sound toroidal field coil resistance 18 are provided and a junction of the resistance 16 and the inductance 17 is grounded by a line 22. Then an end of the redtifier transformer is grounded by a resistance 14 whose value is prescribed between 5 and 50 times of that of the coil.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to hold the voltage between coil terminals at an allowable insulating voltage or lower by using at least one protective means, which is connected in parallel or series with the superconductive coil and protects the superconductive coil, as an inverter power source. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of the inverter power sources 8 are mounted in a connecting manner such as parallel connection with the superconductive coil 1, and the power sources are connected through each switch 5. Each switch 5 connects the inverter power sources 8 and the superconductive coil 1 by means of a controller 7 in response to quenching signals at the same time as the normal conduction transfer of the superconductive coil 1 is detected by means of a quenching detector 6. The desired switch 5 is closed by means of the controller 7 in response to the quenching signals from the quenching detector 6 and the desired inverter power source 8 is connected when a superconductive condition of the superconductive coil 1 transfers to a normal conductive condition. Accordingly, the superconductive coil 1 can be protected because magnetic energy in the superconductive coil 1 is transferred to the outside through a plurality of the inverter power sources 8.
