摘要： PURPOSE:To perform a high-reliability detection of position even in the atmosphere of a high temperature and high humidity and then reduce the number of the detection signal lines, by generating the prescribed plural signals according to the movement of the subject to be measured and then deciding the directivity of these signals for counting. CONSTITUTION:Three different types of signals arranged regularly and having the mutual discrimination property are generated from the detection part 1 and according to the movement of the measurement subject such as the rack. These signals are then converted into the voltage to be processed easily through the signal converters 2 and 3 to be supplied to the direction decider 4. The decider 4 delivers the pulse signals when the subject moves forward and backward. The signals of the forward and backward directions are counted by the adder/subtractor 7 to obtain the difference between both signals, and thus the count value with directivity added is delivered. This output count value is multiplied by the multiplier 8 by the unit extent of the movement of the subject to be measured corresponding to one of the count value, thus obtaining the total extent of the movement. As a result, the position of the subject can be detected.
