摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of user and processing time by retrieving instances (group) having a specified connection with an instance designated by means of a condition and processing the instances(group) as a retrieval result. CONSTITUTION:When a retrieval request is received from the user, an object direction data base control system (00DBMS) 50 analyzes the retrieval request, retrieves 53 the instance of a class designated as the object of retrieval from a data base 40, evaluates the condition designated as the retrieval condition and selects the instance satisfying the condition as the retrieval result. Even if the class to which the instance being the object of operation belongs is not clear in DBMS 50 but if connection with the known instance is designated as the condition, 00DBMS 50 recognizes the connection and the instance being the object of operation can be specified. Thus, the burden of the user for designating data being the object of operation can considerably be reduced and a user interface with satisfactory operability can be obtained in the data base 40 in which data having complicated structure is set to be the object.

If it is required to generate the temporary table in this case, all retrievals which can be merged out of retrievals requested for view definition are merged into one retrieval request, and the temporary table is generated with respect to remaining small-capacity retrieval statements. Thus, the data capacity of the temporary table is reduced and the temporary table is generated quickly.

Then, at the part 70, the information on the data types 83 showing the column attributes, the sorting attributes 84 showing the meaning types, and the data unit 85 are addi tionally held in a column definition information control table 80. Thus, the comparison is attained among the data of different types and these data can be registered.

CONSTITUTION:A hetero-decentralized data base system DBMS is formed by adding a core part 30 of the DBMS which contains a common language analyzing part, a process optimizing part, a process arranging part and a process control part to each computer together with a DBMS containing a local DBMS interface part 40 which delivers the process request to each local DBMS after converting it into a DML. In such a system DBMS, a local DML interface part 20 is added between a user program 10 and the process control part to convert the DML of each local DBMS received from the program 10 into a common DML and to transfer it to the process control part. Thus the program 10 can produce the requests not only by the common DML but by the DML of each local DBMS.
