    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to comprehend contents of moving pictures until a prescribed time or to the utmost extent for a desired time.
      SOLUTION: A moving picture reproducing apparatus includes: a moving picture data input means; a ranking data inputting/generating means to input or generate ranking data ranked for each scene of the moving picture data depending on the importance; a reproduction scene determination parameter inputting means to input a parameter for determining a scene to reproduce depending on the importance; and a reproduction scene determining means to determine the reproduction scenes based on the ranking data and the reproduction scene determining parameter. The reproduction scene determination parameter input means receives a view time of moving picture data desired by the user and the maximum time width of each reproduction scene, and the reproduction scene determining means cuts the scenes so that the reproduction time of the reproduction scenes falls in the maximum time width and determines the reproduction scenes so that the total sum of the reproduction times of the reproduction scenes falls in the view time.
