CONSTITUTION: When leakage water flows into a coolant leakage passage 6, it is increased in speed and decreased in pressure in a first passage part 6a, decreased in speed and increased in pressure in a second passage part 6b, and the static pressure of leakage water becomes equal to the static pressure in the passage 7 on the right side of a leakage flow control plate 2 in a leakage flow outlet 5 of a third passage part 6c. That is, though the pressure in the leakage passage is larger than the static pressure of the passage 7 in the inlet of the first passage part 6a, the former becomes equal to the latter in a certain position of the inlet of the first passage part, the former becomes smaller than the latter in the inlet of the second passage part 6b, a difference between the pressure and the static pressure of the passage 7 becomes smaller in the second passage part 6b, and they become equal in the leakage flow outlet 5. Accordingly, a throat part 2b, an enlarged part 2c and a parallel part 2d are pulled to the channel box 3 side to reduce the area of the leakage passage 6.

    • PURPOSE: To cool uniformly inner surface of tubular body, by varying continuously flow rate of cooling medium in tube longitudinal direction to make heat transfer coefft. at each position in the tube constant, in flowing cooling medium to a cave part of tubular body in longitudinal direction.
      CONSTITUTION: A core 2 in one body with cooling water outlet side support is inserted inside a blank tube 1, a cooling water inlet side support 3 is set being sealed by an insulator 4, and electrodes 5 are set. The outer diameter of the core 2 is varied in axis direction to vary the flow rate of cooling water, so that heat transfer coefft. between inner surface of the tube 1 and cooling water becomes constant in said tube longitudinal direction. Cooling water is allowed to flow through the cave part 6 in this state and if water quantity is stabilized, the tube 1 is heated by conducting electricity directly from the electrode 5. After a prescribed time, electricity conduction is stopped, the tube 1 is cooled by cooling water. In this way, uniform heat treatment in tube longitudinal direction can be carried out in a short time.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the inner pressure of fuel rod while avoiding contact of a plenum spring with the outer circumferential part of fuel pellet and the inner surface of fuel cladding tube by eliminating a wafer at the upper part of the fuel pellet and bringing the plenum sprung into contact with the top face of the fuel pellet thereby increasing the spatial volume at the plenum part. CONSTITUTION:A plenum spring 9 is tapered conically at one end thereof on the side touching a fuel pellet 7 in order to prevent the spring 9 from touching the outer circumference of the pellet 7 and crackling. Furthermore, the most forward end part of the spring 9 is prevented from touching the inner ace of a fuel cladding tube 10 thus ensuring the mechanical soundness thereof. In this regard, an upper end plug 11 and the end part touching the pellet 7 are ground horizontally to increase the contact area thus enhancing the heat transmission performance and the mechanical soundness. Furthermore, the spring 9 on the pellet 7 side employs a tight contact structure of 4-12mm long forming a hollow tubular solid thus enhancing thermal neutron absorption of short fuel rod and reducing the output spike (output at the upper end of short fuel rod increases).
