    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce latter processing time corresponding to the amount of time required to obtain a PID information by discriminating the zone, in which irradiating light beams are positioned based on the signals obtained from a disk, without reading the physical addresses on the disk having plural zones. SOLUTION: While a disk is rotated, a zone in which irradiated light beams are located, is discriminated. If the zone is not located in a target zone, it is returned to a seek processing and an objective lens is moved so that the target zone is irradiated with the beam again. If the irradiated light beams are located in the target zone, the setting of a disk rotation is a waited, a timer start is conducted to monitor the time out of the PID information acquisition and a PID fetch is conducted. Since whether the objective lens is located at an objective zone or not is decided prior to the setting of a disk rotational speed during a seek, a zone discrimination is made prior to the acquisition processing of the PID information, the moving time to a next seek is reduced when the lens is not located at an objective zone.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move an optical pick-up to a target position at a high speed, by moving an objective lens so as to focus on a target layer when a recording layer of target information differs, and then calculating the distance between two physical positions, that is, the current position and the target position. SOLUTION: First, the position of an optical pick-up for reading current position information recording on a disk is checked. Then, it is judged whether the recording position of target information is equal to the current recording layer. When the recording position of target information is not equal to the current recording layer, an objective lens is moved in a direction perpendicular to the disk so as to focus on the target layer. Then, the current position of the optical pick-up is checked. The current position and the target position are converted to physical positions on the disk, and the distance between the relative two points is calculated. Thus, the optical pick-up may be moved to the target position at a high speed without reading the position information recorded on the disk during moving. After the movement, the pick-up is caused to access the target information recording position while the position information recorded on the disk is checked. Thus, high-speed access is easily carried out.

    • PURPOSE: To ensure the safety of the passengers on a passenger conveyor comprising a wide tread by longitudinally mounting a guide rack for partitioning a width of the tread into halves, on a central portion in the width direction of a floor plate of a getting on/off port positioned at an end of a handrail. CONSTITUTION: A longitudinal guide rack 5 is standed on a central portion in the width direction of a floor plate 4 of a getting on/off port. The guide rack 5 has a height of about 1 m, and is longitudinally mounted and fixed on the floor plate 4 with a length two-three times as long as the tread 1 for dividing the passengers into left and right sides. Whereby the passengers can be guided to a safety position on the getting on/off port, the bodies of the passengers are located at a moving handrail 2 side, and a baggage or the like is placed on the central portion as the space on the tread 1, which does not interfere the passage. Particularly on the part of the floorboard 4 of the getting on/off port, it is effective that the passangers can easily grasp the moving handrail 2 by the guide rack 5, because the posture of the passengers becomes unstable when the passengers ride on a moving section from a fixed section. Accordingly the safety can be ensured on the passenger conveyor having the wide tread.
