    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve pressure resistance of an oil seal to dispense with returning piping to a fuel tank for reducing pressure applied to the oil seal used in a high-pressure fuel pump. SOLUTION: This seal mechanism comprises a stress relieving mechanism for relieving stress generated on a joining portion of an oil seal holding member and a soft member. Concretely, a clearance (radial clearance) between an innermost diameter of a first holding member of a first oil seal 10 and an outer diameter of a plunger 70 is determined to be 0.9 mm or less. Thus when a pressure is added to the first oil seal 10 (first lip 13), the deformation of the first lip is prevented, and the stress of the soft member generated near a first holding member inner diameter angular portion 11a can be relieved.
