    • PURPOSE:To prevent any wrong ignition by providing a high voltage diode for applying no secondary voltage to an ignition plug, at the time of closing of a power transistor of the ignition coil, on the middle of the secondary coil winding. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 18 receives an electric signal 20 generated in synchronization with rotation of an internal combustion engine from a crank angle sensor 19 so as to allocate the signal to each of ignition coils. For example, when each of ignition coils receives an electric signal 21, the signal is led to a power transistor 10, so that current 22 flows through the primary coil 2. When the power transistor 10 is opened, the secondary high voltage is generated in its secondary coil 4 and applied to an ignition plug 8. on the other hand, the secondary voltage is generated in the secondary coil 4 also at the time of closing the power transistor 10. But the secondary voltage is not applied to the ignition plug 8 because a high voltage diode 9 is arranged. Because the high voltage diode 9 is arranged in the secondary coil winding 4, a necessary air gap can be secured without enlarging an ignition mechanism, so that it is possible to prevent any wrong ignition from being generated by the wrong secondary voltage.

    • PURPOSE:To realize the size and weight reduction of an ignition coil device and avoid the misignition and improve the reliability by a method wherein the central cores of the respective ignition coils are arranged in parallel and both ends of the respective cores are magnetically connected to each other by side cores to make the respective central cores form closed magnetic circuits and, under such conditions, a plurality of the ignition coils are molded into one piece. CONSTITUTION:When an electric signal S is given to a control unit 8, the signal S is distributed into three electric signals S1-S3 and currents I1-I3 are alternately applied to primary coils 2, 3 and 4. When the current is cut off, a negative voltage and a positive voltage are induced at the output terminal 51 and the output terminal 52 of a secondary coil 5, respectively. The voltage Va induced at the output terminals 51 and 52 ignite ignition plugs P1 and P2 which are in the relation of compression and exhaust processes. Positive voltages and negative voltages are induced at output terminals 61 and 71 and output terminals 62 and 72 of secondary coils, respectively; sparks are not created at ignition plugs P3-P6 which are in absorption and explosion processes by the existence of high voltage diodes D2 and D3.

    • PURPOSE:To avoid the disconnection of a primary coil lead wire by burying the primary coil lead wire in a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin etc. CONSTITUTION:Within the title ignition coil for internal combustion engine wherein a primary coil 2 and a secondary coil 4 are contained in a coil case 15 previously molded out of a thermoplastic synthetic resin 12 after connecting the terminal of the primary coil 2 to another primary terminal 8, a thermosetting synthetic resin 10 such as epoxy resin etc., is injected into the said coil case 15 to be thermoset and further after assembling component parts such as iron cores 13, 11, etc., into the coil part, the said ignition coil is exterior- molded out of the thermoplastic synthetic resin 12 such as polybutylene tetrapbthalate etc., a lead copper wire 8 of the primary coil 2 is buried in the epoxy resin 10 due to the shape of the primary terminal 8 to be electrically connected so that the copper wire 9 may be structured not to be buried in the exterior-molded resin 12. Through these procedures, the thermosetting synthetic resin 10 such as epoxy, etc., in small linear expansion coefficient can avoid the disconnection of the primary coil lead wire.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the heat radiation of a coil part and improve heat resistant properties by a method wherein a metal whose thermal conductivity is high is buried in the inner diameter side, contacted with a core, of the part of a primary bobbin to which a primary coil is applied and the outside of the metal is covered with an insulation with a specific thickness. CONSTITUTION:Primary and secondary coils 2 and 4 are housed in a case 8 and insulated with thermosetting synthetic resin 16 cured by heat to form an internal combustion engine ignition coil. A metal 5 whose thermal conductivity is high is buried in the inner diameter side, contacted with a core 13, the part of a primary bobbin 1, to which the primary coil 2 is applied; further the outside of the metal part is covered with an insulation with a thickness about 0.2-1.0 mm. With this constitution, the heat created in the coil part when the ignition coil is operated is transmitted from the metal with a high thermal conductivity to the core so that the heat resistant properties can be improved.
