    • PURPOSE:To enable SOx and NOx to be reduced at a starting time of operation of the pressurized fluidized bed type boiler by a method wherein both a temperature of the fluidized bed and its height are increased up to those of a normal operation state while fuel (new fuel) substantially not containing a nitrogen compound and a sulfur compound is being supplied when the boiler is started to be energized and then the new fuel is changed over to fossil fuel. CONSTITUTION:A feeding amount of air is increased while a combustion from an air-heating furnace 13 is being continued at the time when a temperature of a fluidized bed filled with lime stone is regulated. Concurrently, new fuel (for example, active carbon or the like) for use in energizing the operation is supplied from a new fuel supplying port connected to the fluidized bed on a dispersion plate 12, and a temperature of the fluidized bed is increased up to about 800 to 900 deg.C. Lime stone is fed into the fluidized bed as required and a thickness of the fluidized bed is increased up to a predetermined bed height. As the height of the fluidized bed is increased, a supplying amount of new fuel and air is increased and a concentration of oxygen in discharged gas is kept at 3.6% with a temperature of the fluidized bed being about 800 deg.C to 900 deg.C. After this operation, the new fuel can be changed to the fuel (for example, coal) under a normal operation. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to reduce SOx and NOx at the time of starting energization of the boiler.
