SOLUTION: The present apparatus includes a fan F composed of an impeller 2 and a motor 3 for rotating the impeller 2, a motor base 4 for supporting the motor 3, a filter 5 for purifying air from the impeller 2, a body housing 1 containing therein a pressure chamber P in whose chamber the fan is contained and whose chamber pressurizes the air from the impeller 2 and leads it to the filter 5, and a bell mouth 6 provided on an upper surface 1a of the body housing 1 at an inlet. Herein, there are further provided a support plate 7 for keeping a predetermined interval between the motor base 4 and the housing upper plate 1a to prevent deformation, and an air deflection plate for rectifying an air stream.

Clean air is sent out of an opening through a filter 4 provided in the opening of the pressure chamber 25. In such as air cleaning device 1, the sectional configuration of the pressure chamber 25, which passes through the central axis of rotation of the fan 2, is formed so as to be a trapezoid form, whose lower side is the side of the opening of the pressure chamber. The aspect ratio of two sides, forming the blowing surface of opening of the pressure chamber 25, is determined so as to have a value higher than 0.7 substantially.

SOLUTION: A centrifugal impeller 10 has a plurality of vanes 3 fixed between a side plate 1 and a core plate 2 opposed to the side plate 1 and is made of a metal such as aluminium, SUS. The side plate 1 is formed in a circular shape, in a curved surface from an outer edge part to an inner edge part in section, and is provided with grooves 1c along a line with which the vanes 3 come into contact and slit holes into which the claws 3a of the vanes 3 are inserted. The core plate 2 has an outline same as that of the side plate 1 and is provided with slit holes into which the claws 3a of the vanes 3 are inserted on its plane part to which the vanes 3 are fixed. The wanes 3 are provided with curve parts along the section of the curved surface of the side plate 1 in the side to which they are fixed. The side plate 1, the vanes 3 and the core plate 2 are combined together, the claws 3a of the wanes 3 inserted into the slit holes are bent, caulked and respectively fixed.
