    • PURPOSE:To select a route while considering call traffic characteristics and a call request band in an ATM network by comparing a call request band with a network line band, selecting receivable line and network topology and selecting a route maximizing line capacity from the combination of lines. CONSTITUTION:The number of idle virtual pathes (VP) and virtual channels (VC) are calculated for every virtual path (VP) and whether route selection is possible or not is judged (101). A call request band is removed from line bands on all links to find out remaining bands (102). If negative nodes exist in the remaining bands, a link between the negative nodes is removed to constitute new network topology (103). Then route selection is executed (104). All available routes from a start point up to an end point are selected at first, a link speed is found out by the use of the line bands on a link included in each route and a route having a maximum value out of the found line bands is selected as an optimum route.

    • PURPOSE:To realize versatility of an adaptive transmission band between terminal equipments by adding information representing an information transfer request after a prescribed time to a header of an ATM cell, sending the resulting cell and sending information in an information buffer to a selector when the information of transfer request does not collide with the information transfer request of other terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:When transmission information exists in an information buffer 41, a transfer request transmission circuit 421 sends a transfer request. A selector 43 sends a transfer request so as to be synchronously with a header of a prescribed cell. An optical reception circuit 46 receives an optical signal from a loopback signal fiber 25 and converts it into an electric signal. As soon as an optical reception level detection circuit 47 detects presence of transfer request collision in a cell header based on an electric signal level, the circuit 47 detects a cell phase. When no collision takes place, the information detection circuit 42 sends the information in the information buffer 41 to the selector 43, which sends the information to an optical transmission timing adjustment circuit 44 synchronously with a slot of the ATM cell.
