摘要： PURPOSE:To attain improving transportability, shortening waiting time, etc., by providing horizontally connecting wells for connecting both single elevator life wells to the respective upper/lower end parts so that each elevator can stop at every floor, in the elevator having a plurality of sets of independent wrapped units. CONSTITUTION:A life well of circulating path constitution is constituted by connecting two sets of lift wells 3a, 3c in the fellow upper/lower end parts of these life wells by horizontally connecting paths 3b, 3d. In the life well thus obtained, a plurality of sets, for instance, four sets of elevators 1a to 1d are set up, and each elevator 1a to 1d is moved to circulate through ropes 9a to 9d wound to drive pulleys 5a to 8a through 5d to 8d provided in upper/lower ends of the lift well. That is, the elevator, without returning back from the uppermost or the lowermost floor, is moved to the lift well in an opposed surface side and lifted via the horizontally connecting wells 3b, 3d. Here in the elevator of small number of calls, the elevator serves in the one side lift well, and in the case of a large number of calls, the elevator is controlled to be driven so as to serve in two directions.

After on of the switch, an elevator is reciprocated between the top floor and the bottom floor several times. After the several-time reciprocation, the elevator is again reciprocated between the top floor and the bottom floor several times after the lapse of a fixed time by a timer provided on a control board 8 or the monitor board. This operation is repeated until the freezing preventing operation switch is off. When this operation is released, the freezing preventing operation switch 10 is turned off.
