摘要： PURPOSE:To ensure the thermal margin of a fuel rod by varying the heat treatment of a channel box made of a Zr based alloy in the longitudinal direction, and varying the crystal orientation of alpha-phase Zr in the longitudinal direction, thereby suppressing the bending deformation caused by irradiation growth and reducing the bypass flow rate between the channel box and a lower tie plate. CONSTITUTION:Two sets of U-shaped components are combined and the butting part is welded to produce a rectangular pipe and the end D thereof is set on the lower tie plate side. Heat treatment is started from the end D by high frequency heating and water, passed through a high frequency induction heating coil 22 and heated up to the beta-phase temperature range, is sprayed through a nozzle 23. Output of a high frequency transmitter 24 is controlled such that the region within about 15cm from the end D is heated up to the (alpha+beta) phase temperature range while the remaining region of 385 cm is heated up to the beta-phase temperature range. Consequently, the bending deformation is reduced significantly in the vicinity of the end D and the gap is eliminated between the channel box and the lower tie plate thus preventing leakage of cooling water.
