    • PURPOSE:To shorten a magnetic path length and to improve S/N by setting a distance between a straight line for connecting the centers of the two connecting parts of a magnetic core and the upper end of a magnetic gap to a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic core is constituted of more than two layers, at least two connecting parts 5a, 5b of the magnetic core are provided at a part except the magnetic gap 3 and film coils 4a, 4b are balance wound on the two symmetrical connecting parts. Herein, the distance (h) from the line connecting the centers of the two core connecting parts 5a, 5b to the upper end of the magnetic gap 3 is determined as follows. Namely, when the number of the windings totalled by a pair of spiral coils per one layer is defined to be N0, a front coil pitch to be Cp1 a and the distance from the center of the connecting part of the magnetic core to the inside of the coil to be l, the value of (h) is made equal to (l+(N0/2-1)Cp1) or set to a value in the vicinity of a larger value. Thereby, the length of a periphery of the magnetic core can be shortened, the sensitivity of a magnetic head is raised and the S/N can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic head having the thin film coil of a balance winding structure with a small conductor resistance and be suitable to a high density recording of a VTR, etc., by dividing and forming a magnetic core and developing a thin film coil with two core joining parts out of these approximately as a center. CONSTITUTION:For the joining part other than a magnetic gap 3, a magnetic core is divided and formed so that it can be plural pieces, with two joining parts 2a-1 and 2b-1 out of these approximately as a center, a thin film coil 4 is developed and a balance winding is executed. With the shape of the core joining parts 2a-1 and 2b-1 and coil connecting parts 4-1 and 4-2 approximately as a semicircle, approximately as a rectangular isosceles triangle or the combination of them, an average coil length per turn is shortened. Thus, since the balance winding of the thin film coil with a small conductor resistance can be executed, a thin film magnetic head resisting to an external jamming and having a low impedance noise can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the title head with little induced noise which is suitable for the high-density recording of a VTR, etc., in a mounted state by crossing a wiring pattern on a terminal board at least once. CONSTITUTION:A wiring pattern 8 crosses at least once on a terminal board 5 and the sum of the effective areas of an oblique line part 7 surrounded by the wiring pattern 8 and a coil 3 incorporating a magnetic core 2 to the induced noise by an extraneous wave is nearly equal to the effective area of the other oblique line part 9 to the induced noise by the extraneous wave. The polarity of the induced noise by the extraneous wave generated in the oblique line part 7 surrounded by the coil 3 incorporating the magnetic core 2 on a thin-film magnetic head chip and the oblique line part 7 surrounded by the wiring pattern 8 is reverse to that of the induced noise generated in the other oblique line part 9 surrounded by the wiring pattern 8. Consequently, they cancel each other and the interference of the extraneous wave can be completely canceled. Thus, the one with little induced noise which is suitable for the high-density magnetic recording of the VTR, etc., in the mounted state can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of an interval and to improve the efficiency of recording and reproduction by respectively setting the size of a non-magnetic substrate and a protective layer in a contacting area with a recording medium according to their abrasion characteristic. CONSTITUTION:The contacting area of the non-magnetic substrate 1 and the protective layer 5 are made to be different according to the abrasion resistance of material forming the respective things. That means, when the abrasion characteristic of the substrate 1 and the layer 5 are different, phenomenon which the softer one is optionally scraped, for example, does not occur when the recording medium and a magnetic head are slided by making the contacting area of the substrate 1 (the thickness d1 or the area) and the contacting area of the layer 5 (the thickness d2 or the area) to be different. Therefore, the contact of a magnetic gap 3 and the recording medium is always good. Thus, the abrasion resistance of the thin filmed magnetic head is improved and the efficiency of recording and reproduction is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a head excellent in a reproducing efficiency and suitable to a high density magnetic recording by having a magnetic gap formed by the laminated layer of a magnetic thin film and a non-magnetic thin film at one side core half body. CONSTITUTION:The head is formed by non-magnetic substrates 1 and 6, a front magnetic core 2, a magnetic gap 3, a coil 4, terminals 4a and 4b and a rear magnetic core 5. By sticking together with a glass or a resin so that joining parts 5a and 5b of the rear magnetic core 5 can be coincident to joining parts 2a and 2b of the front magnetic core 2 respectively, a thin film magnetic head is manufactured. In short, to a first substrate 6, the rear magnetic core 5 is formed, the front magnetic core 2 and the coil 4 including the magnetic gap 3 laminated and formed at a second substrate 1 are formed, both substrates are stuck together so as to coincide magnetic core joining parts 5a and 5b and 2a and 2b, thus, a thin film magnetic head considering the shortening of the magnetic path length is obtained, further, a manufacturing process per substrate can be decreased, and therefore, the number of the days of the manufacturing of the thin film magnetic head can be made into about 10 days.
