    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade problems such as the increase of danger of crush with respect to the projection of a recording/reproducing element surface of a magnetic head in company with the temperature rise and the increase of thermal asperity (TA), and also to attain the stable write-in and read-in to a medium.
      SOLUTION: A middle point is arranged in a coil of a recording element and set to a ground potential or the floating state at the recording operation to the medium, and the recording is made by making recording signal currents to flow into both ends of the coil so as to become the opposite phases each other with respect to the middle point. At the read-in from the medium, a magnetic signal on the medium is detected by an element used exclusively for reproduction, and simultaneously, heating currents are made to flow into both ends of the coil so as to become the same phases each other with respect to the middle point of the coil of recording element. The increase of danger of crush with respect to the projection of the recording/reproducing element surface of the magnetic head in company with the temperature rise and the increase of TA, or the like are evaded, and the stable write-in and read-in operations to the medium can be realized.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the effect on a recording and reproducing element, or a slider, or a magnetic disk when the recording and reproducing element or the slider is in contact with the magnetic disk and to detect the contact of the recording and reproducing element or the slider with the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: The slider is provided with a floating amount control means using a piezoelectric actuator. An applied voltage including DC and AC components is applied to the piezoelectric actuator.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative-pressure slider with a small scattering in the amount of floating even if the length of an air introduction part for generating a negative pressure changes due to a machining scattering by reducing the accumulation of a lubricant at the groove part of the air bearing surface of a slider and the increase in the adhesive force between the slider and a disk storage medium, and a magnetic disk device using the negative-pressure slider. SOLUTION: A negative-pressure slider 100 has air introduction parts 130 and 132, cross rails 120 and 122, side rails 110 and 112, a first groove part 140, and a magnetic transducer 180. Further, the negative-pressure slider 100 has a second groove part 160 that is provided to separate air introduction parts 130 and 132 being provided to separate the air introduction parts 130 and 132 at the air flow-in edge side of the slider and a slit 150 that is provided to connect the first groove part 140 and the second groove part 150 and to separate the cross rails 120 and 122. Also, a width W2 of a part where the air introduction parts 130 and 132 are connected to the cross rails 120 and 122 is made narrower than a width W3 of a part where the side rails 110 and 112 are connected to the cross rails 120 and 122.
