    • PURPOSE:To form the magnetic powder which is uniform in distribution, with less surface defects, good in electromagnetic conversion characteristics and can assure the strength of a coated film, by forming the shape of fillers incorporated in a magnetic layer to the shape nearly similar to or analogous with the shape of the magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic powder 3 and the fillers 4, 5 flocculate and suspend as several micron particles in a resin soln. 6 when a magnetic coating compd. 1 is spin-coated on a substrate. The magnetic powder 3 is attracted and moved at places near a magnetic pole 7 when the magnetic coating compd. is rotationally oriented in a magnetic field. While the spherical fillers 4 are large in volume and surface area, the fillers hinder the movement of the magnetic powder 3, the acicular fillers 5 have the same shape as the shape of the magnetic powder 3 and are small in volume and surface area. This filler, therefore, facilitates the movement. The degradation in the orientability near the fillers and the generation of flocculation are thus reduced. The force of the above-mentioned pole is, therefore, weakened and the generation of microdefects by the crack, etc., of the coated film is suppressed.

    • PURPOSE:To observe a wear part in detail and to obtain the suitable evaluating method for the medium by exciting a magnetic disk in a specific direction, e.g. rotating direction at a specific period to a specific amplitude and wearing and peeling the surface of its magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 5 is moved to fix a magnetic head 2 at a specific position on the surface of the magnetic disk 1. Then a frequency generated by an oscillator 11 is amplified by an amplifier 10 and inputted to an exciter 9. The exciter 9 is fitted with an excitation rod 8, which vibrates as shown by an arrow 12. The magnetic disk 1 is vibrated finely in its circumferential direction 13 according to said vibration. At this time, the quantity of displacement of a disk clamp 6 is measured by a displacement sensor 14 and a displacement meter 15. The excitation frequency and amplitude are monitored on an oscilloscope 16 so as to hold the excitation conditions constant. Consequently, the generation part A of wearing caused as a result is observed is detail by SEM to obtain the suitable evaluating means for obtaining the disk medium with high filler holding force.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the selection of combination of a head having a high contact resistance with a magnetic disk, by a method wherein, after the magnetic disk is rotated, a spherical slider is vibrated vertically and the disk and the spherical slider are brought into contact with each other periodically. CONSTITUTION:A spherical slider 4, which is fitted to the fore end of a vibrating rod 7 through the intermediary of a gimbal support spring 5, is so constructed that it is vibrated forcedly in the vertical direction by vibrating the vibrating rod 7 at a prescribed period by a vibrator 6, so that a periodical contact thereof with a magnetic disk 1 may occur. On the occasion when evaluation of a head/the disk is executed, a carriage 9 is moved to position the slider 4 at a prescribed position on the surface of the disk 1, and the disk 1 is rotated normally. Next, at a time point when the disk 1 gets to regular rotation, the slider 4 is vibrated at a prescribed period by the vibrator 6 and thereby the periodical contact with the disk 1 takes place. The fore end of the slider 4 is worn by the contact with the disk 1. The volume of a worn part in various test times is calculated, and the amount of wear of the slider 4 is obtained thereby.

    • PURPOSE:To attain smooth R chamfering in the vicinity of a side rail and a center rail gap to a degree not losing the electromagnetic characteristic by exciting a magnetic head slider during high speed floating so as to bring it into contact with a magnetic disk thereby monitoring the electromagnetic characteristic. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 1 is floated at a high speed to a prescribed position on a magnetic disk 3 by a positioning mechanism 2 and after data is written on the disk by an electromagnetic characteristic tester 4, the magnetic head supported by a guide arm 5 is vibrated for a set time of the timer 9. The vibrating force in this case is grasped quantitatively by an acceleration sensor 10 fitted to the guide arm. Very smooth radius chamfering parts a, b are formed to the flowing in/out parts of the side rail and the center rail of the head slider through the vibration. Thus, the very smooth R chamfering is attained to the magnetic head slider and the contact between the head and disk in the actual state is reduced considerably, then the head crash resistance is improved.
