    • PURPOSE: Coal is crushed, heated at a temperature at which tar distillates out, and resultant combustible gas is made to burn and coal is heated utilizing the combustion heat, thus increasing the calorie of lower quality coal and its hydrophobic properties with necessary heat source saved.
      CONSTITUTION: Lower quality coal is fed to the moving bed 12 for drying and dried as being stirred, then fed to the moving bed for dry distillation 15 to effect dry distillation under agitation, then sent to the receiver 17 and taken out of the line 18 as a reformed coal. As the heat source, is used the combusted gas after the fuel is made to combust in the combustor 19. The fuel and air are fed to the combustor 19 and the resultant combustion gas is sent to the heat medium jacket 24 of the moving bed for drying and to the heat medium jacket 25 of moving bed for dry distillation.

    • PURPOSE: To remove aldehyde in a polyester, effectively, and to obtain a polyester having high qualities and high polymerization degree, by dividing the temperature zone of a reactor for the solid phase polymerization of polyester into the zone for the removal of acetaldehyde and the zone for increasing the polymerization degree.
      CONSTITUTION: Polyethylene terephthalate polymer pellets having a number- average polymerization degree of, e.g. 80W120, are fed continuously to the solid phase polymerizer 4. At the first temperature zone, the removal of acetaldehyde existing in the polymer as an impurity is accelerated by introducing inert gas through the inlet pipe 6 to the polymerizer keeping the temperature of the polymerizer pref. at 210W220°C, thereby suppressing the increase of the polymerization degree.     • PURPOSE:To obtain, at a low cost, high-quality polyesters, suitable as raw materials for films, etc., which contain a slight amount of impurities due to thermal decomposition, by polycondensing bis(omega-oxyalkylene) terephthalate to a specified degree of polymerization in liquid phase, and polycondensing the resulting polymer in solid phase after granulation. CONSTITUTION:Bis(omega-oxyalkylen) terephthalate is charged together with catalysts and stabilizers into the initial polymerizer 11, where it is polycondensed in liquid phase at about 260-275 deg.C, and then the resulting product is charged into the intermediate polymerizer 12, where it is polycondensed in liquid phase at about 10mmHg and about 260-275 deg.C, until the number-average polymerizaton degree reaches about 30-60. The produced polymer is cooled and granulated into a diameter of about 0.2-2mm in the pelletizer 13, and the granules are charged into the after-polymerizer 14, where they are polycondensed in solid phase at a temperature of the melting point of the polymer or lower temp. to obtain linear condensation polyesters, containing a slight amount of impurities such as free carboxyl groups.

    • PURPOSE: The continuous modification of low-quality coal is carried out by effecting heat treatment of low-quality coal in plural stages and improving the sealability between the system and outside-system and between individual units, independently from operation pressure in individual stages.
      CONSTITUTION: The first drying unit 10 is provided with a means for feeding low-quality coal which inhibits at least outside air to flow into the unit and the coal is sent from the unit 10 to the 2nd drying unit 12. Simultaneously unit 10 and unit 12 are connected through a means 13 for inhibiting the gases inside individual units to mix and the final drying unit is provided with a means for taking out the quality-modified coal, as the outside air is prevented from flowing into the unit, thus effecting quality modification of low quality coal.
