摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyer which enables a passenger to recognize surely that a tread and a handrail is switched from a constant moving speed to a low moving speed. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyer has a push-button switch 11 operated by a passenger to output a low speed command, a low speed operating means switching a moving speed of a tread 4 and a handrail 6 from a constant moving speed to a low moving speed in accordance with the low speed command, and a light conductor 13 provided in a tip end of a landing 2 to inform the passenger by emitting light that the boarding is allowed by a command of a control system device 10 when the moving speed of the tread 4 and the handrail 6 reaches the low moving speed. The passenger, after operating the push-button switch 11, confirms that the low moving speed is reached by emitting of light of the light conductor 13 and then gets on the passenger conveyer 1.

SOLUTION: In a plurality of steps 2A-2Z, connected endlessly, the tread 6 and riser face 7 of each step are painted in the same color, and the adjacent ones are successively changed in color so as to enable a user to easily recognize the tread 6 of the stop to put his foot on. At least a protruding part of the riser face 7 is repainted with material better in a slip characteristic than paint applied to the tread 6 so as to make it difficult for a toe to be jammed between the tread 6 and the adjacent riser face and to be excellent in appearance as well as hard to get dirty.

SOLUTION: A passenger conveyor is provided with a colored running board in which coloring different from that to the other running board is given to the front surface of the specified running board of running boards 4, a push- button switch 11 to be operated by a passenger and for outputting a low speed command, a low speed operation means for switching the moving speed of the running boards 4 and a handrail 6 from the constant moving speed to the low moving speed according to the low speed command, and a colored running board appearing means for making the colored running board appear in an entrance 2 when the moving speed of the running boards 4 and the handrail 6 reach the low moving speed. A passenger gets into a passenger conveyor 1 after visually confirming that the moving speed reach the low moving speed by the appearance of the colored running board after operating the pushbutton switch 11. Therefore, improvement of safety can be achieved.
