    • PURPOSE:To provide an information reader such as a bar code reader, etc., in which light receiving quantity distribution of a light receiving element can be improved so as to be uniformalized and a reading error can be reduced. CONSTITUTION:A bar code 2 is irradiated with light from the light source 1 of a thin film EL element, and the optical path of reflected light from the bar code 2 is changed by a mirror 3, and it is converged on a lens 4, and is received by the light receiving element 5 such as a charge storage element (CCD), and it is converted to an electrical signal, then, information stored in the bar code is read by a decoder circuit. The thin film EL element is as follows. (1) An EL element whose surface confronting with an information display medium is formed in a curved surface with the center formed in recessed shape. (2) An EL element in which the film thickness of an EL element light emitting layer is thickened at both terminal parts of the element. (3) An EL element whose EL element light emitting surface is widened at both terminal parts of the element. (4) An EL element letting EL element light emitting surface be plural number and in which the total area of the light emitting surface is formed larger than a middle part at both terminal parts of the element. (5) An EL element in which lets the density of light emission center included in the EL element light emitting layer be different values at the middle part and both terminal parts of the element.

    • PURPOSE:To surely detect an abnormal operation even when someone performs an operation to prevent a residual display hole being punched by providing a circuit which judges whether or not a punch performs a normal punching operation based on a current waveform conducted to the coil of an electromagnetic plunger. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 29 to take out a current conducted to the coil 16 as a voltage value is provided, and a taken-out voltage is stored in a capacitor 32 via a rectifier element 31, then, a voltage with peak value is held. Also, the voltage changing from time to time out of the voltages taken out at the resistor 29 is supplied to a voltage comparator 33 via a terminal 33a, and is compared with a peak voltage, and when a voltage difference arrives at a prescribed value, a pulse signal 34 is issued from the voltage comparator 33. The electromagnetic plunger is operated normally while the signal is issued, and it is judged that abnormality occurs in the operation of the electromagnetic plunger when it is not issued. In such a way, the abnormal operation can be surely detected even when the operation to prevent to the residual display hole being punched on a magnetic card is performed by someone.

    • PURPOSE:To extend the action area of a scanning head user by transmitting and receiving a bar code read signal between a scanning head and a reception case by radio. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 11 is thrown to a bar code 13 and is reflected, and scattered reflected light 15 is condensed on a photodetector 19 through a converging lens 17 incorporated in a scanning head 1 and is converted to a bar code read signal, and this signal is amplified and is sent to a transmission part 23. When a power source 25 is turned on, the whole of the read system is operated, and the read signal is transmitted through the transmission part 23 and an antenna 31 by radio. The signal transmitted by radio is received through an antenna 33 incorporated in a reception case 32 and is taken into a reception part 35 and is sent to an analog generating circuit 37 and is sent to a digital generating circuit 39. It is converted to a digital signal and is sent to a decoding part 41, and the decoded result is sent to an analysis computer 47 through a signal transmission line 43.

    • PURPOSE:To enlarge a mirror for photodetection, to eliminate the necessity of a motor to oscillate the mirror and to suppress trouble such as the fault of a driving mechanism, etc., by freely oscillating a mirror for projection and fixing the mirror for photodetection. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 2 from a laser oscillating source 1 is reflected by a mirror 3 for projection, passed through a through hole 7 of a mirror 6 for photodetection, reaches the surface of a bar code 5, scans the surface, is reflected again on the surface of the bar code 5, becomes scattered light, reaches the mirror 6 for photodetection, is condensed, reflected on this mirror and photodetected by a photodetector 12. In such a case, since the mirror 6 for photodetector is fixed, this mirror can be enlarged and since the motor is not required for oscillating the mirror even when enlarging this mirror, the rouble such as the fault of the driving mechanism, etc., is suppressed. Further, since the injurious laser beam to be full reflected on the surface of the bar code 5 and to return is passed through the through hole 7 and the mirror 6 for photodetection, darkness and brightness for the black and white bars of the bar code are exactly discriminated. Thus, the laser beam is condensed onto the curved mirror without fail.
