    • PURPOSE:To enable the easy and sure indirect detection of the landing posture of a cable, by detecting the landing posture of a rotary investigating member which is put freely on the cable with the long axis of its elliptical section being perpendicular to the axial direction of the cable. CONSTITUTION:A rotary investigating member 2 is formes so that a landing posture detector 8 is positioned on the lower end side without fail when the member is positioned in a concave part 10 of the seabed 5. Therefore, a hole 11 through which a cable 1 is inserted freely is provided eccentrically, not in the center of the elliptical section of the member, and thus the same position is found at the lowermost end when the cable is suspended in the water.
