    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker with a locking mechanism which ensures that the circuit breaker is switched OFF before applying any trip free lock. SOLUTION: Exemplary embodiment includes the circuit breaker, including a lay shaft coupled to circuit breaker contacts, a lay shaft cam coupled to the lay shaft, a lifting plate configured to interface the lay shaft cam, and a padlock plate configured to engage the lifting plate. Further, the exemplary embodiment includes a circuit breaker system, the system including a circuit breaker having circuit breaker contacts and configured in an OFF condition, a padlock plate disposed on the circuit breaker, wherein the engagement of the padlock plate locks the circuit breaker into a trip free condition and a locking mechanism configured to lock the circuit breaker in the OFF condition in response to the engagement of the padlock plate.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring release mechanism for a circuit breaker that releases the energy from the compression springs of the circuit breaker prior to being removed from service. SOLUTION: The spring release mechanism includes two linkages for crashing or releasing the circuit breaker compression springs to allow the circuit breaker to be used in either fixed breaker installation or in an installation having a drawout mechanism 52. The secondary mechanism includes a manual activation linkage 56 that couples with an interface plate 68. The interface plate 68 is coupled to an opening latch shaft 69 and a closing latch shaft 71 that cooperates to release the circuit breaker compression springs. An interface lever 80 is also coupled to the interface plate 68. The interface lever 80 includes a roller 96 that interacts with a pivoting cam lever 98 coupled to the drawout mechanism 52.
