    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc flash detection system that reliably detects arc flash events and mitigates nuisance trips of circuit protection devices.SOLUTION: A power circuit protection system 100 includes a current sensor 106 to measure a first current level through a conductor of a circuit 104, a voltage sensor 110 to measure a first voltage level across a plurality of conductors of the circuit 104, and a controller 116 communicatively coupled to the current sensor 106 and to the voltage sensor 110. The controller 116 receives a first signal from the current sensor 106, in which the first signal is representative of the first current level, and receives a second signal from the voltage sensor 110, in which the second signal is representative of the first voltage level. Based on the first signal and the second signal, the controller 116 determines whether to activate a first circuit protection device 112 or a second circuit protection device 114.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor, as a radiation sensor, for distinguishing nuisance light from radiation generated by an arc flash event while sensitivity is kept within a necessary range.SOLUTION: An arc flash detector (100) includes a light sensor (120), a light attenuating filter (110) in communication with the light sensor (120), a housing (140) disposed to support the light attenuating filter (110) and the light sensor(120), and a logic circuit (130) in communication with the light sensor (120). The logic circuit (130) is disposed to receive an output of the light sensor (120) and disposed to generate an output signal in response to the predetermined intensity of light received by the light sensor (120). The light attenuating filter (110) is disposed to reduce the intensity of light received by the light sensor (120). The housing (140) is also disposed to retain the light sensor (120) and the light attenuating filter (110) in a fixed orientation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy management system using various communication methods and protocols which communicate with an energy using apparatus and control an operational mode of the same.
      SOLUTION: An energy management module 100 for an energy consuming apparatus 120 is mounted on the energy management system 200. The module 100 includes a module main controller to mount a computer processor which communicates with a computer readable storage medium storing a computer executable code. When the computer executable code is executed by the computer processor, the code executes a method including a step which judges whether a demand state is a peak one or not and a step which utilizes a reduced operational mode of the energy consuming apparatus during the peak demand state and utilizes a normal operational mode of the energy consuming apparatus during a demand state other than the peak demand state. The system 200 is allowed to mount a system main controller 201 further.
